Texas Myths That Are Only Kinda True

1. The Texas Flag Is The Only Flag That Can Fly As High As The American Flag

A lot of us love to run around telling folks from other states about how the Texas State Flag is the only state flag that is legally allowed to fly at the same height as the American flag because we were once our own country. While the Texas flag is allowed to fly at the same height as the American flag, we aren’t the only state allowed to do this. In fact, the 49 other states in America are allowed to do the same thing.

According to Snopes, the federal flag code is more of a list of recommendations than a list of laws. In the flag code the only real “rule” is that other state flags that are on separate poles should be at a height equal to or less than the national flag. Even the Texas State Flag Code recommends the same rules.

So yes, Texas can fly its flag at the same height. But no, it’s not the only state that can do so. All that being said though. Texas could still beat up all the other 49 states, so we’ve got that going for us which is nice.
