I remember growing up as a kid thinking that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre took place right outside of Austin. I was convinced that there was no way I’d travel anywhere close to that city for fear of being chased by a masked mad man. Well, my fears were slightly unfounded. Yes, there are very weird people in Austin. No, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was not based on a true story. It was simply inspired by the somewhat similar story of Ed Gein. Ed Gein, who lived in Wisconsin, was a grave robber and murderer, but none of his murders involved college students in broken down cars.

Never fear I-35 travelers. The greatest thing you have to fear while traveling around central Texas is the traffic.
